Cambodian Women’s Affairs Minister Begins Official Visit to Cuba


Havana: H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs of Cambodia, and her accompanying delegation arrived in Cuba on Mar. 16 (Havana time) to begin an official visit, during which she will hold meetings with various authorities and carry out other activities.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the visit is made at the invitation of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC). Upon her arrival at Jos© Mart­ Airport, the senior Cambodian delegation was received by the Secretary General of the FMC, Ms. Teresa Amarelle Bou©, a member of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Havana, H.E. Chea Thireak. Members of the Federation’s International Relations Department also welcomed the distinguished visitors.



This visit, which runs until Mar. 19, reaffirms the willingness of both organisations to foster exchanges and develop cooperation in areas of common interest focused on the advancement of women, while contributing to strengthening the special relations of friendship between Cambodia and Cuba. The Cambodian delegation arrived in Havana from New York, where they participated in the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
