President of the Cambodian Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, this morning told H.E. Sen. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council of Myanmar, of his intention to talk with H.E. Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi.
In a meeting via Videoconference, Samdech Techo Hun Sen once again requested H.E. Sen. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing to consider arranging an online meeting between him and H.E. Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi for the purpose of exchanging greetings because they were colleagues for many years in ASEAN affairs.
At the same time, the Cambodian senate president stressed the importance of implementing the five-point consensus and hoped that this progress would contribute to the peace process in Myanmar.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also welcomed the decision of the State Administration Council to send a non-political representative to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in January and encouraged Myanmar to continue appointing representatives to key ASEAN meetings.
In reply, H.E. Sen. Gen. Min Au
ng Hlaing agreed to continue sending his non-political representatives to the ASEAN Summits and promised to consider other proposals as well as to send his special envoy to Cambodia in the near future to continue to discuss Samdech Techo’ s proposals and to draw good experiences from the National Election Committee of Cambodia related to the organisation of a free, fair and transparent election.
The two leaders also discussed and exchanged views on cultural and sports cooperation between the two ASEAN countries.
