President of the Senate of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, this morning held talks with H.E. Woo Won-Shik, Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, during his stay in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.

In the meeting, H.E. Woo Won-Shik expressed warm welcome to Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s visit and highlighted the progress of the cooperation in different areas between the two nations since they established their diplomatic relations in 1997.

H.E. Woo Won-Shik also sought support from Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Royal Government of Cambodia to more than 200 Korean companies doing business in Cambodia, and expressed his appreciation for the two countries’ people-to-people connectivity.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his profound thanks to the Republic of Korea and Korean people for their contribution to Cambodia’s development, especially for keeping usual flights between the two countries during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Furthermore, the Cambodian senate president extended his gr
atitude to the Korean government for providing favourable conditions for Cambodian migrant workers. He said Cambodia and Korea are in-laws because some 8,000 Cambodians, most of them are women, have married Koreans with about 75,000 children and grandchildren.

He thus requested the Korean government to provide opportunities for those children and grandchildren to learn both Khmer and Korean to be able to communicate with each other as well as contribute to the Korean economy.
