Cambodian Private Commercial Centre in Japan Plays Crucial Role in Boosting Bilateral Trade and Investment


Atsugi: A senior official of the Ministry of Commerce has spoken highly of the Cambodian Private Commercial Centre in Japan’s role and efforts in promoting the bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. H.E. Seang Thay, Secretary of State at the Ministry Commerce, made the remarks while leading a delegation to inspect the location of the Cambodian Private Commercial Centre in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture late last week.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the visit was aimed to update and review the activities of the above-mentioned commercial centre to continue operating for the next three years, according to the Ministry of Commerce. On the occasion, H.E. Secretary of State met with Mr. Takashi Okami, Director of Kojima Holdings Co., Ltd., Ms. Machiko Kosugi, Head of the Cambodian Private Commercial Centre in Atsugi, and Mr. Kusunoki Rissei, Chairman of the Cambodia Community in Japan.



H.E. Seang Thay mentioned that the Cambodian Private Commercial Centre in Atsugi City is well-decorated and attractive, displaying Cambodian products and playing an important role in providing information about Cambodia’s trade, investment, tourism and culture to Japanese businessmen, investors and the Japanese people.



In addition, H.E. Secretary of State highly appreciated the efforts of the Commercial Centre, which has contributed to boosting trade and investment between Cambodia and Japan, and encouraged the Commercial Centre to continue organising activities that promote Cambodia’s potential. In particular, he requested that the Commercial Centre cooperate with the Ministry of Commerce to organise Cambodia-Japan Business and Investment Forums, business matching and help facilitate Japanese investors and businessmen who wish to invest in Cambodia.



The Cambodia Private Commercial Centre in Japan was officially opened on June 18, 2022 in the presence of H.E. Tuy Ry, Cambodian Ambassador to Japan. Cambodia has so far established private commercial centres in the United Arab Emirates, Japan, and China. The Kingdom also planned to create more commercial centres in London, the United Kingdom and New Delhi, India.



The centres will serve as key gateways for promoting Cambodian products to international markets and attracting international traders, investors, and tourists to Cambodia.
