The participation of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in an Iftar dinner with the Muslim community in Cambodia reflects his understanding and respect for ethnic minorities.
The remarks were made by visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Honorable Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim in a joint press conference held here at the Peace Palace this afternoon after his bilateral meeting with Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
“What the world lacks is understanding and tolerance,” underlined the Malaysian Premier.
The Iftar is the evening meal Muslims have to break their fast during Ramadan, the holy month of the Muslim communities, which is determined by the sighting of the new moon. During this holy month, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs to purify the soul, refocus attention to their faith, and practice self-sacrifice.
Even though Buddhism is the state religion of Cambodia, the Royal Government fully guarantees the freedom of belief and religious harmony in the country.
