Cambodian PM Suggests Expansion of Cooperation with Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has asked China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to expand its cooperation with Cambodia, mainly in trade and investment sectors.

The request was made during the meeting between the Cambodian Premier and H.E. Liu Ning, Secretary of Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on the sidelines of the 20th ASEAN-China Expo in Nanning this afternoon.

Samdech Thipadei sought cooperation from Guangxi in supporting Cambodian agricultural products, providing public health care services, promoting tourism development, expanding vocational training, education and sports, as well as in increasing direct flights between the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Cambodia.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei requested H.E. Liu Ning to examine the possibility of speeding up the preparing process of procedure for signing the Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Cooperation for the Construction of Cambodia-China Industrial Parks, which will focus on digital economy and smart agriculture.

For his part, H.E. Liu Ning informed Samdech Thipadei of the potential of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as well as its cooperation with Cambodia. So far, Cambodia and the Region have cooperated in the fields of trade, agriculture, health, technology, education, sports, and human resource training.

He also affirmed to study the possibility of increasing direct flights from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to Cambodia, adding that he will begin discussions with stakeholders in both China and Cambodia on the matter.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet praised the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for its economic growth, which is one of China’s major economic drivers.
