Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said the population in Phnom Penh will not decease and the Royal Government has no plan to limit the number of residents in the capital city. Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Chak Angre Krom-Prek Pra Concrete Bridge across Bassac River in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet affirmed that to respond to the population growth, the Royal Government has been doing its best to ensure social order and stability for the well-being of all the people. 'The Royal Government will further pay high attention to maintaining peace and development to improve the social protection and the people's well-being,' he said. Besides, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet confirmed that the Royal Government has no plan to relocate the capital city like some countries in the region such as Myanmar and Indonesia. Phnom Penh is the capital and largest city of Cambodia. It is a centre of security, politics, economics, cultural heritage , and diplomacy. This capital city has in total 692.46 square kilometres with some 305,767 households of more than 1.47 million people. The total density in Phnom Penh is around 2,123 people per square kilometre.
