Cambodian PM: Education Reform Has to Be Updated Every Time


Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said in order to build good human resources, Cambodia has to apply the education reform every time.

Addressing the Graduation Ceremony for some 3,530 graduates of the Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE), at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister said some nations had allowed students to use a tablet for a while, but now they are starting to assess that it is not benefit for students anymore as most of them no longer focus on reading, therefore those nations have to adjust it.

‘In this sense, Cambodia education also needs to modernise, while reform programmes must be done regularly,’ he underlined.

The Cambodian Prime Minister went on to say that the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports has already done this work, that is, not only in higher education, Cambodia has also adjusted from primary to secondary school.

‘If we know that AI is coming, we should not wait for AI to come t
o us, [ …] we must be ready. If we know how to drive our economy based on science, we have to apply STEM- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, we are ready for this,’ he emphasizsed.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also stressed that Cambodia has put priority on education for a long time ago and will further prioritizse this sector for sustainable development of the Kingdom.
