Cambodian PM Calls for Tightening of Border Crossing in Northeastern Part

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, called on all competent forces in the provinces bordering Vietnam to tighten the border crossing to make sure that no one can use the Cambodian territory to fight against another nation.

While presiding over a get-together with nearly 20,000 workers and employees from six factories and enterprises, held at Lecrown Shoes Industry Factory in Cheung Prey district, Kampong Cham province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said we need to be careful and keep close collaboration with the Vietnamese authorities as a rebel group attacked two Vietnamese communes on June 11, 2023 and killed Vietnamese local officials, police officers and people.

“I am worried that this group would use Cambodia’s territory to take their action in Vietnam, therefore we have to keep our close cooperation with Vietnam,” the Cambodian Premier said.

All forces in the provinces of Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie, Thbong Khmum, etc. have to pay high attention to this issue, he added.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister also warned some international organisations and local NGOs, including the United Nations Agencies in Cambodia, to stay away from this Vietnamese rebel or terrorist network, as this is an international crime and Cambodia will not allow anyone to use Cambodian territory against other states.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also stated that this is a serious situation against which Cambodia must absolutely take action with no exception, stressing that this is not about a political asylum case, but an act of terrorism.
