PHNOM PENH: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, has extended her condolences to Speaker Woo Won-shik of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea after a tragic plane crash at Muan International Airport resulted in significant loss of life.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, President Khuon Sudary conveyed her deepest sympathies to the families affected by the disaster and expressed solidarity with the people of South Korea. In her message, she wrote, “On behalf of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to you, through you, to the bereaved families, and to the people of the Republic of Korea for the tragic plane crash at Muan International Airport on 29 December 2024.”
Jeju Air flight 7C2216 crashed and caught fire at Muan International Airport, claiming the lives of 179 out of the 181 people on board. President Khuon Sudary expressed that her thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and friends during this challenging time. “In this moment of sorrow, we stand with you, sharing in your grief and extending our heartfelt sympathies. May the strength and resilience of your nation provide comfort and guidance as you navigate this period of mourning,” she concluded.
The plane crash has prompted an outpouring of international condolences and has highlighted the close ties and mutual support between Cambodia and South Korea in times of crisis.
