Cambodian NA President Commends Shanghai’s People-Centered Democracy

Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, on Sept. 26 led her delegation to visit the local legislative outreach office of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Shanghai Standing Committee of the NPC, located in the Hongqiao neighbourhood of Shanghai’s Changning district, on the last day of the official and friendly visit to China.

Samdech NA President expressed appreciation for the Chinese National People’s Congress (NPC), acknowledging its significant contributions to Shanghai’s progress and development in alignment with China’s broader national goals and common economic and strategic objectives.

Samdech Khuon Sudary said that the visit to Shanghai was highly valuable, memorable, and important, as it provided numerous opportunities to learn about and understand the whole-process people’s democracy from the Chinese perspective.

This office visit is part of a broader initiative to enhance public participation in the legislative process, re
flecting China’s commitment to whole-process people’s democracy. These outreach offices directly solicit public opinions and ideas, incorporating community feedback into draft laws and legislative work plans.

Shanghai has practiced people’s democracy at all stages of its social development. With a people-centered approach, Shanghai has become a global hub for trade, economy, ports, shipping, waterways, science, technology, and innovation.
