Cambodian NA Notifies Lao and Vietnamese NAs of CLV Parliamentary Cooperation Framework Conclusion

The National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia has formally notified the Lao and Vietnamese NAs regarding the conclusion of the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Parliamentary Cooperation framework.

‘With reference to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s decision regarding the conclusion of the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA) on September 20, 2024, the NA of the Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to formally notify Your Honourables of the conclusion of the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Parliamentary Cooperation framework, effective as of September 21, 2024,’ wrote Saturday Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the Cambodian NA, in a letter to her Lao counterpart H.E. Dr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, and her Vietnamese counterpart H.E. Tran Thanh Man.

‘We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest gratitude to the NA of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the NA of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam for their relentless efforts and unwavering dedication in strengthening pa
rliamentary cooperation under the CLV-DTA framework,’ she added.

‘We deeply appreciate the tangible outcomes of our trilateral cooperation, which have positively impacted the livelihood of our peoples, particularly those residing in the border provinces. Moving forward, we remain committed to fostering and expanding our traditional friendship and collaboration through bilateral frameworks and other multilateral mechanisms,’ underlined Samdech Khuon Sudary.

Last night, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, announced Cambodia’s completion of her participation in the CLV-DTA to ‘withdraw weapon out of the hands of extremists.’

‘Taking into account people’s concern on territory and the need to withdraw weapon out of the hands of extremists to prevent them from using CLV-DTA to further cheat people, I, as the Party President and Prime Minister Hun Manet and other leader decided that Cambodia completes our participation in the CLV-DTA from September 20, 202
4 onwards,’ he said in a special message.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen stressed that Cambodia will continue to normally develop her territory under cooperation with ASEAN, with CLMV, with ACMECS with GMS and with other development partners across the globe.

Border Infrastructure Development Fund focusing on building border roads in which our people have participated will contribute to this development, he added.

‘Extremists are likely to declare their victory over this demand; however, they will lose an important weapon used to attack the Royal Government. Moreover, the success of the Cambodian People’s Party stems from solving people’s concerns and knowing how to remove weapons from the hands of the enemy,’ explained Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
