Cambodian NA Delegation Returns from China with Historic Cooperation Agreements


A high-level Cambodian parliamentary delegation led by Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, returned home safely from China on the night of Sept. 26, bringing back remarkably fruitful and highly beneficial results for the people and national pride.

During her five-day official and friendly visit to Beijing, Samdech NA President met with Honourable Mr. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), and paid a courtesy call on Honourable Mr. Wang Huning, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). In Shanghai, Samdech met with Honourable Mr. Chen Jining, Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Committee in Shanghai.

The most significant outcome of this visit was the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation between the two parliaments b
y Samdech Khuon Sudary and her counterpart, Hon. Mr. Zhao Leji. Both leaders also presided over the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Secretariat-General and General Office of the two legislatures, signed by H.E. Mr. Leng Peng Long, Secretary-General of the National Assembly of Cambodia, and H.E. Mr. Liu Qi, Secretary-General of the General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

These two signed documents represent a new historical achievement in the parliamentary relations between the two countries, as well as to create the basis for further strengthening and deepening bilateral cooperation to achieve practical achievements.

Samdech Khuon Sudary and Hon. Mr. Zhao Leji highly valued the cooperation between their countries and pledged to deepen the synergy between the Diamond Cooperation framework and the Belt and Road Initiatives with Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy – Phase 1 to serve the interests of both nations and achieve concrete results i
n building a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard Community with a Shared Future.
