Cambodian Leaders Send Condolence Messages to Lao Prime Minister


Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has sent a condolence message to H.E. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Laos, following the passing of his father H.E. General Khamtay Siphandone. ‘I received with extreme sadness the news that your dear father, H.E. General Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and former President of the Lao PDR, passed away yesterday morning, April 2, 2025,’ read the message dated April 3.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, on behalf of the Government and people of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet conveyed his deepest condolences to the Lao Premier and all his family members, as well as the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Government and the people of Lao PDR for this irreplaceable loss.



Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister added that H.E. General Khamtay Siphandone will forever be remembered as the statesman who devoted his entire life to the independence, progress, and well-being of the people of Lao PDR. ‘Cambodia has lost a friend who greatly contributed to building enduring ties of friendship and solidarity between our two nations, Cambodia and Lao PDR,’ he underlined.



At the same time, Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, also extended her deepest condolences to H.E. Sonexay Siphandone for this profound loss. ‘H.E. General Khamtay Siphandone leaves behind a legacy of unwavering dedication to the independence, progress, and well-being of the Lao people. We in Cambodia remember him as a dear friend and an important figure in forging the strong and lasting bonds of friendship and solidarity between our two nations,’ she wrote in her message.
