Cambodian, Lao, Vietnamese Ruling Parties Meet to Discuss Their Friendship and Cooperation


Ho Chi Minh: The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) led by its President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) led by its General Secretary H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith, and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by its General Secretary H.E. To Lam met in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on Feb. 22.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the summit, also attended by the Prime Ministers of the three neighbouring countries, discussed the ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the three ruling parties in a spirit of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, peace and sustainable development for the interest of the three countries’ peoples.



The three parties also touched on the acceleration of resolution of remaining border issues to transform the common border into an area of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, and committed to contributing to promoting and strengthening the ASEAN Community to protect ASEAN’s solidarity and centrality in regional and global economic and security architecture, especially in the context of the rapidly changing, unpredictable, complex and fragile international and geopolitical situation.



The three parties will continue to effectively strengthen and expand the existing cooperation mechanisms, explore new cooperation mechanisms, including promoting and connecting global peace networks, regional initiatives, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation to contribute to building and defending regional and global peace and prosperity.



The CPP, LPRP and CPV leaders agreed to hold the next summit of the three parties in Cambodia in 2026.



Earlier on Feb. 21, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and H.E. To Lam co-chaired the annual CPP-CPV summit during which they applauded the continuous development of the bonds of solidarity, traditional friendship, historical relations and close cooperation between the two countries, and set a direction for cooperation between the two parties in the coming years.



Both sides spoke highly of the results of the implementation of the consensus spirit between the top leaders of the two parties in the past meetings to promote their ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation and mutual support to resolve various issues in the relations between the two neighbours in a timely and effective manner, thereby enhancing mutual trust in good neighborliness.



They will continue to support cooperation between the youth of the two parties and countries to further enhance Cambodia-Vietnam friendship in the spirit of ‘connecting youth, connecting generations, and connecting leadership.’ They will also continue to support each other and promote their cooperation within the framework of the Party, Parliament, Royal Government, and mass organisations to contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
