Cambodian Acting Head of State Meets Singaporean Ambassador to Discuss Bilateral Ties


Phnom Penh: Cambodian Acting Head of State, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, received H.E. Ms. Teo Lay Cheng, Ambassador of Singapore to Cambodia, this morning at the Senate Palace.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the courtesy meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasized the strengthening bilateral relationship between Cambodia and Singapore, particularly in trade and economic cooperation. He expressed optimism that planned activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two nations would drive the two-way trade beyond US$ 1 billion.



The Acting Head of State also conveyed his desire to see an increase in direct flights between the two ASEAN countries, aiming to enhance bilateral ties and foster closer people-to-people connectivity.



In response, H.E. Ms. Teo Lay Cheng committed to enhancing Singapore’s trade and investment efforts in Cambodia. Despite the continuation of her diplomatic mission, she expressed her eagerness to witness Cambodia’s ongoing progress and development.



Both Samdech Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Ms. Teo Lay Cheng shared hopes for finalizing an important agreement on carbon credits collaboration on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, showcasing a strong commitment to addressing climate change challenges.
