Cambodia, Vietnam Sign Cooperation Agreement to Strengthen Media Ties


Cambodia’s state news agency – the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) – and Vietnam News Agency (VNA) have reached a new agreement to further enhance their bilateral cooperation in media exchange.

The agreement was signed by AKP Director General H.E. Mrs. Sokmom Nimul and VNA Director General H.E. Mrs. Vu Viet Trang in a ceremony held in Phnom Penh this morning with the participation of officials from both state news agencies.

The agreement outlines a framework for broader cooperation in further promoting information cooperation in the digital age, technical and technological cooperation, correspondent mutual assistance, and exchange of delegations between AKP and VNA.

The two news agencies will work together to exchange texts, photos, and video clips on their respective information requirement.

In a bilateral working meeting prior to the signing ceremony, both parties recalled the fruitful cooperation between the two news agencies in promoting the cooperation and serving the national interests of the two cou
ntries.

They spoke highly of the cooperation, emphasising the value of media collaboration in strengthening the people-to-people connectivity of the two nations.

AKP Director General H.E. Mrs. Sokmom Nimul said the agreement will play a key role in promoting mutual understanding and fostering closer ties between Cambodia and Vietnam as well as enhancing bilateral understanding between the people and people of both neighbouring countries.

‘This agreement signifies a new chapter in our media cooperation. By working together, we can share knowledge and best practices, contributing to a more informed public in both countries,’ she said.

H.E. Mrs. Sokmom Nimul also extended her gratitude to VNA for its spiritual, material and technical support for AKP so far.

For her part, visiting VNA Director General H.E. Mrs. Vu Viet Trang expressed her satisfaction with the good cooperation on media between the two agencies.

She recalled both agencies’ historical ties and cooperation which have promoted the mutual unders
tanding and fostering closer ties between Cambodia and Vietnam.

‘The new agreement will pave the way for a deeper media cooperation, playing a crucial role in boosting the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia,’ she said.

The two parties also stressed that the cooperation of the two agencies is important in fighting against fake news, circulated widely on social media platforms in this digital age.

Besides VNA, AKP has entered into cooperation agreements with a dozen foreign news agencies and institutions, including China’s Xinhua and People’s Daily, Thailand’s NTT, Russia’s TASS and Sputnik, Italy’s AGI, Bulgaria’s BTA, Cuba’s PL, Trkiye’s Anadolou, India’s ANI, and so on.
