Cambodia, Vietnam Agree to Foster Information and Broadcasting Cooperation

Cambodia and Vietnam have agreed to continue their cooperation in the areas of information and broadcasting, particularly in combating and preventing fake news, which would affect the relations between the two countries and peoples.

The agreement was made between H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Cambodian Minister of Information, and visiting H.E. Lai Xuan Mon, a Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the CPV’s Commission for Information and Education, during their meeting here at the ministry this morning.

In the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on major achievements of their respective countries, and the implementation of tasks by the two institutions. They shared the same ideas over the key role played by the media in shaping public opinion.

H.E. Neth Pheaktra recalled the good cooperation between the Ministry of Information of Cambodia and the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the Vietnam Television (
VTV), and so on. He took the opportunity to thank the Vietnamese side for its material and technical support for the Cambodian national media.

For his part, H.E. Lai Xuan Mon reaffirmed the Vietnamese side’s continued support to the Cambodian Ministry of Information, especially in capacity building and technical assistance.

He asked the ministry to encourage all TV stations in Cambodia to join the TV360 App, successfully launched by Metfone, and invited H.E. Neth Pheaktra to pay a visit to Vietnam at his appropriate time.

In reply, the Cambodian information minister accepted the invitation, and affirmed that the Cambodian national TV – TVK – had already joined the TV360 App.
