Cambodia to Continue All Development Projects in Northeastern Part

Even though Cambodia decided to end her participation in the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA) from Sept. 20, 2024 onward, all development projects initiated by the Kingdom for her northeastern part will continue to be implemented.

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet made the reaffirmation in a voice message to the public this morning.

‘With or without the CLV-DTA cooperation, Cambodia will continue to development her northeastern part and to ensure the territory and sovereignty defence because this is the people’s will, especially that of the people living in the northeastern part. Therefore, the implementation of the policy to promote the northeastern development will remain the same,’ he underlined.

According to the Premier, the said policy includes border maker planting with the neighbouring countries and construction of interconnected infrastructure, particularly the border ring roads.

Furthermore, the Royal Government will continue to keep the incentive pa
ckage for investment promotion in the northeastern provinces in 2025.

Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank his compatriots for their contributions to the Border Infrastructure Development Foundation focusing on border ring road construction. The fund-raising campaign will continue until Oct. 31, 2024, then the total budget raised along with precise plan on the use of the budget based on the principle of transparency and accountability, he added.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reiterated that the free tour programme to the country’s northeastern part planned from September to the end of this year will continue so that the citizens have the opportunity to witness the real development along the border of Cambodia.

On Sept. 20, 2024, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, who initiated the CLV-DTA, officially announced to terminate Cambodia’s participation in this cooperation after it had been implemented for 25 years
