Phnom Penh: Entrusted to host the General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) for the second time this week, Cambodia will share the fruits of its peacebuilding journey to promote regional and global peace.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the desired outcome has been firmed up by First Vice President of the Cambodian Senate H.E. Prak Sokhonn, who was assigned to lead the organising committee of the 12th ICAPP General Assembly that will happen in Phnom Penh on Nov. 21-24.
As the host, the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) as well as Cambodia at large is committed to ensuring warm hospitality and a productive meeting among over 200 delegates from 57 political parties across 42 countries. H.E. Prak Sokhonn emphasized Cambodia’s role in facilitating practical discussions by drawing on the country’s experiences and lessons from its peacebuilding and national unification process after more than 500 years of wars and disunity.
Asia, being one of the largest and most popu
lous continents, comprises demographically, politically, and culturally diverse countries. Hence, it is necessary to strike a common ground of understanding for peace and harmony, which is an indispensable foundation for prosperity and development within the region and beyond, he stated.
Reportedly, Co-Chairperson of the ICAPP Standing Committee and ICAPP Secretary General Mr. Chung Eui-yong highly valued Cambodia’s active role in ICAPP and in fostering multiculturalism in Asia and the world through dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect, particularly in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
