Cambodia, the Philippines Strengthen Their Central Banks’ Cooperation

The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) held in Siem Reap province on Aug. 19 a high-level Bilateral Meeting, and reached a cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

NBC Governor H.E. Dr. Chea Serey and BSP Governor H.E. Eli M. Remolona, Jr., inked the MoU aiming to foster closer cooperation between the two central banks.

The MoU provides a clear framework for the facilitation of bilateral tie and the enhancement of collaboration between the two central banks particularly in the areas of central banking, payment connectivity and innovation, digital financial innovation, banking supervision, human resource development and other areas of mutual interest, pointed out NBC.

According to a joint press release, the BSP-NBC Bilateral Meeting and MoU on cooperation are expected to encourage more collaboration particularly in the areas of central banking, payment connectivity and innovation, digital financial innovation, banking supervision, human resource development, and
other areas of mutual interest.

During the high-level bilateral meeting, it added, both sides exchanged views on recent macroeconomic and financial developments and outlook, payment system developments, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sustainable finance. The two central banks also discussed opportunities for further cooperation on these areas.

The meeting ended fruitfully, and the two parties agreed to organise a such bilateral meeting on annual basis, underlined NBC
