Cambodia, the Philippines Laud Bilateral Military Collaboration


Cambodia and the Philippines have highly appreciated the progress in their military cooperation and vowed to further foster it.

The satisfaction was underscored during a courtesy meeting here at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this morning between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and visiting H.E. Gen. Romeo Saturnino Brawner, Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of the Philippines.

H.E. Gen. Romeo Saturnino Brawner, Jr. is committed to further strengthening and expanding the bilateral military cooperation through the implementation of existing mechanisms and the development of action plans for new cooperation.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked the Philippines for her support to the Cambodian armed forces in the past and encouraged the two countries’ military to continue tightening their cooperation, focusing on training, capacity building, visit exchange, and joint exercises.

The Cambodian Premier also stressed the importa
nce of military cooperation in the fight against transnational crime and non-traditional threats.

Earlier on Sept. 8, H.E. Gen. Romeo Saturnino Brawner, Jr. was received by H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF). On the occasion, both military leaders spoke highly of the strong Cambodia-Philippines cooperation. They noted that despite the complex regional and global issues, the two countries continue to support each other in bilateral, regional and international frameworks.
