Cambodia, the Philippines Appreciate Fruitful Bilateral Relationship

Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Philippine Senate President H.E. Francis G. Escudero have highly appreciated the fruitful results of the good relations and cooperation between the two countries. The two leaders made the remarks during their meeting in Manila on Feb. 11, as part of Samdech Thipadei’s two-day official visit to the Philippines.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Francis G. Escudero expressed optimism about the friendly relations and cooperation between the Philippines and Cambodia. He hoped that after this visit, the relationship between both nations would become more active and prosperous. The implementation of the eight memorandums of understanding and agreements signed on Feb. 11 is expected to achieve positive results, benefiting both nations. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasized the value of the longstanding relations between the two countries and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would continue to yield better results.

The leaders highlighted the potential for accelerating cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, and investment. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet noted that Cambodia could become a key partner in ensuring the Philippines’ food security, particularly through Cambodia’s surplus of high-quality, competitively priced rice.

The meeting also addressed promoting people-to-people ties and direct flight connections between the two countries. The proposed Manila-Siem Reap-Manila and Cebu-Siem Reap-Cebu routes aim to boost tourism by attracting tourists from outside the region to visit both countries and the broader ASEAN region.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended an invitation to H.E. Francis G. Escudero and the Philippine senators to visit Cambodia at a convenient time, assuring them of a warm welcome.
