Cambodia Stands Ready to Contribute to Regional Peace, Says PM.

Siem Reap: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has reaffirmed the Kingdom’s readiness to contribute to peace across the region. “As a matter of fact, Cambodia has lost several decades to civil war, but we have managed to restore full peace for more than two decades and have achieved prosperity through economic liberalisation and re-integration in the global economy to the present day,” said the Cambodian Premier in his keynote address at the Opening Session of the Internationale démocrate centriste-Centrist Democrat International (IDC-CDI) Executive Committee Meeting, held at the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap provincial city this afternoon.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet took the opportunity to express his deep gratitude to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate, for his visionary leadership and his lifetime commitment to peace, r
econciliation, and post-conflict reconstruction, setting the foundation for the country’s national rejuvenation and modernisation.

Under the CPP leadership, Cambodia is aspired along like-minded countries and political parties to support multilateralism, pluralism and political governance. “As IDC-CDI Vice President, the CPP has proudly contributed to the development and strengthening of Cambodia as a democratic country in the region,” Samdech Thipadei said. “We have actively participated in various regional and global political initiatives, using our own experience in peacebuilding and reconciliation. As a small country, our ambition lies not in military strength but in peacemaking. After all, we only seek to live in peace, and prosper as a sovereign state with territorial integrity.”

CPP, together with IDC-CDI, is deeply proud to address regional challenges and advance peace-building efforts, aligning with IDC-CDI’s core democratic values and principles, he underlined.

The IDC-CDI is an international pol
itical party grouping with 109 political party members from 83 countries of Europe, Latin America, North America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. The CPP became a full member of the IDC-CDI in April 2016 and has been elected as Vice-President of the IDC-CDI in charge of the Asia-Pacific region since July 2018 for three consecutive terms.
