Phnom Penh: The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation this evening issued a press release on the earthquake devastation in Myanmar and Thailand, reaffirming Cambodia’s solidarity with them. ‘The Royal Government and people of Cambodia are deeply saddened to hear the loss and injury of many lives in the earthquake that struck hard on Myanmar and Thailand on the afternoon of Mar. 28, 2025,’ read the statement. ‘We wish to convey heartfelt condolences to the Governments and peoples of Myanmar and Thailand at this moment of profound sorrow.’
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, ‘Cambodia stands in solidarity with the Governments and peoples of the two countries,’ the spokesperson emphasised. In this time of deep grief, he continued, the Royal Government of Cambodia wishes to extend its great sadness to the families of the victims and wishes them a quick recovery.
Through Cambodia’s embassies in Myanmar and Thailand, the Royal Government of Cambodia is following up closely on the safety of the Cambodian nationals who might be caught in this disaster. As of now, there is no report of any casualty among Cambodian nationals in both Myanmar and Thailand, underlined the statement.
