Cambodia Speaks Highly of CPC’s Participation in Election Observation

H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary, Second Vice President of the National Assembly and Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), has highly valued the presence of a delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Cambodia for tomorrow’s election observation.

The presence of CPC’s delegation reflects the continued support of justice, democracy, peacekeeping, stability and development, ensuring the legitimacy and sovereignty of Cambodia’s elections, said H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary in a meeting with H.E. Qian Hongshan, Vice Minister of the International Department of CPC Central Committee.

She took the opportunity to thank China for its support to the development of Cambodia as well as to the CPP’s leadership, and laid stress on the necessity for the two parties, parliaments and governments to further strengthen their cooperation, coordination and mutual assistance.

For his part, H.E. Qian Hongshan considered the July 23 general election in Cambodia as a major event for China as well.

He also noted that the closing of the three-week-long election campaign on July 21 went smoothly, with good order, safety, non-violence and joy.

Cambodia is going to hold the 7th National Election on Sunday, July 23, 2023 under the observation of over 600 international observers from some 60 institutions and 89,562 national observers from 134 institutions.
