PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has earned US$1,791 billion from paddy and milled rice exports in the first eleven months of this year, a report from the Cambodia Rice Federation showed on Thursday. From January to November, the Kingdom shipped some 575,562 tonnes of milled rice to 67 countries, earning US$413 million.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, China was a major market for Cambodia’s milled rice, importing 109,448 tonnes worth US$69 million. The Kingdom shipped 283,981 tonnes of milled rice worth US$207 million to 26 European countries and exported 113,792 tonnes to 7 ASEAN nations, including Timor-Leste. The exported rice varieties included fragrant rice, organic rice, white rice, parboiled rice, and japonica rice.
The country also exported 4.6 million tonnes of paddy rice during the first eleven months of this year, earning US$1,378 million. The government has been paying high attention to the rice sector by taking initiatives to improve infrastructure, providing technical assistance to farmers, and prom
oting the branding of Cambodian rice. The country’s focus on improving rice quality and implementing sustainable farming practices has contributed to its growing reputation as a reliable supplier of high-quality rice.
Malys Angkor (Phka Romdoul), the trusted name for Cambodian premium aromatic rice, won the World’s Best Rice 2024 Award at the World Rice Conference in Manila, the Philippines, in November 2024. This is the sixth time that Cambodia’s rice has won the award since its participation in the World Rice Conference.
