Cambodia and the Republic of Korea (RoK) discussed ways to further tighten their cooperation, mainly in the areas of military, economy and people-to-people connectivity.
While meeting with visiting Speaker of the National Assembly of RoK, H.E. Kim Jin Pyo, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet requested the Korean side to expand the military relations between both countries, including the visit of the RoK Navy to Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei also suggested the elevation of Cambodia-Korea relations to “comprehensive strategic partnership”.
The Cambodian Premier expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Korea for their support for the development of Cambodia, stressing that the current development is inseparable from Korea’s support.
The Government and the National Assembly of RoK will continue to work with their Cambodian counterparts to promote the implementation of the bilateral Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement, affirmed H.E. Kim Jin Pyo, hoping that both countries will continue to support each other within the framework of ASEAN and the Mekong region for future prosperity and development.
The two leaders agreed to expand people-to-people connectivity with Cambodia continuing to support the Republic of Korea’s candidacy to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan and seeking Korea’s assistance in the field of engineering, agriculture, new technologies as well as investment in the green economy and vocational training.
