Cambodia is ready to welcome Thai businessmen to invest in the country for mutual benefits, said H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, when he received here on Aug. 15 a delegation of Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand.
Cambodia has experienced strong economic growth in recent years and has become a high-growth economy, attracting a large number of investors from all over the world, especially from China, Japan, Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom and ASEAN, including Thailand, he added.
Mr. Voratat Tantimongkolsuk, head of the Thai delegation, told the Commerce minister of his visit to Cambodia, the purpose of which is to learn more about trade and investment potential and seek business partners.
According to Mr. Voratat Tantimongkolsuk, his delegation will visit special economic zones in Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Koh Kong and Preah Sihanouk.
For his part, H.E. Pan Sorasak said that Cambodia offers long-term growth opportunities in a wide range of sectors and the country is well positioned as a potential hub for business and investment in the region, taking into account key factors such as strategic location, young workforce, access to large markets offered by the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) as well as bilateral free trade agreements with China, Korea and the United Arab Emirates.
The two-way trade between Cambodia and Thailand was recorded at more than US$4.6 billion in 2022 and over US$1.9 billion for the first six months of this year.
