Cambodia Prepares a Warm Welcome for Chinese President


Phnom Penh: With H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, set to arrive in Cambodia tomorrow, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this afternoon expressed a warm and welcoming message. On behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended a warm welcome to H.E. Xi Jinping on his state visit to Cambodia.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the visit, H.E. Xi Jinping is scheduled to have separate Royal Audiences with His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, the Queen-Mother, at the Royal Palace. He will meet with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and also with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral ties and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.



“This visit will demonstrate the importance and the strength of Cambodia-China relations. Cambodia-China friendship is historical and enduring. Our two countries have continuously enhanced and expanded our relations and cooperation in all fields,” he mentioned.



For over the past 67 years, forged during Samdech Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh Norodom Sihanouk’s era and nurtured by Samdech Techo Hun Sen as well as the current Royal Government of Cambodia, Cambodia-China relations have reached the highest level, that is comprehensive strategic partnership and ironclad friendship.



Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet added that the two countries are together creating new achievements within the Diamond Cooperation Framework and building a Community with a Shared Future for common interests based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, equality, and non-interference in internal affairs.



For Cambodia, he emphasized, China has played a pivotal role in socio-economic development, especially in the fields of infrastructure, investment, and tourism. The Cambodia-China partnership has also enhanced Cambodia’s independence, national defense capabilities, and prestige on the international stage.



Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said he is looking forward to discussing with H.E. Xi Jinping to chart a course of action for future Cambodia-China cooperation to deliver shared benefits for the two nations and peoples.



At the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, H.E. Xi Jinping will revisit Cambodia on April 17-18, 2025.



“This is a milestone visit which will further cement the traditional relations of friendship built by successive leaders of both countries. It will add great significance to the ironclad friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations,” the source underlined.



During the visit, many documents are expected to be signed to promote cooperation in various sectors. This is the second state visit of H.E. Xi Jinping to Cambodia. The first visit took place in 2016.
