The Prime Ministers of Cambodia and New Zealand have discussed and agreed to promote a number of potential areas of cooperation, including education, agriculture, energy, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.
In their meeting in Vientiane, Lao PDR this afternoon, on the sidelines of 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, Cambodian Premier Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and H.E. Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, expressed their willingness to further boost trade between the two countries.
They also emphasised their commitment to enhance cooperation on vocational training and human resource development by continuing to provide scholarships to Cambodian students to pursue their studies in New Zealand.
The two leaders agreed to assign the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the two countries to explore the possibility of establishing a consultation mechanism to further strengthen and expand cooperation in key areas.
Besides, they exchanged views on regional and international affa
irs, focusing on maintaining peace and stability, which are the determinants of regional and global development and prosperity.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet was pleased to meet again with H.E. Christopher Luxon after their first meeting in March 2024 in Melbourne, Australia. He took the opportunity to thank New Zealand for her contribution to the peace-seeking process and development of Cambodia through the deployment of peacekeepers in the early 1990s, the participation in demining operations in Cambodia, and human resource development through scholarship provision to Cambodian students and government officials to study in New Zealand.
