Cambodia, Malaysia to Continue Fostering Bilateral Cooperation

Cambodia and Malaysia have agreed to continue to strengthen and broaden their bilateral cooperation, particularly in the banking sector, for the benefit of the two nations and peoples.

The agreement was made in a meeting here on Sept. 18 between H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), and Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Shaharuddin Onn.

On the occasion, the Malaysian diplomat lauded the good cooperation between the two governments and the good relations between both countries’ businesspersons.

H.E. Shaharuddin Onn also praised the well-organised Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum (Sosoro Museum) and the NBC’s Centre for Banking Studies.

For her part, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey noted the good collaboration between Cambodia and Malaysia in the banking sector, which has contributed to boosting bilateral trade and investment.

The NBC governor highlighted the presence of many large Malaysian banking institutions investing and expanding their operations in Cambodia, as well as good coo
peration in cross-border payment systems.

Today, Sept. 19, the National Bank of Cambodia and the Central Bank of Malaysia are launching the cross-border QR payment between Cambodia and Malaysia.
