Phnom Penh: Cambodia and Luxembourg have spoken highly of their bilateral relations and mutual trust, emphasising that despite the geographical distance, they share common positions on key international affairs. These remarks were made during a meeting in Phnom Penh this afternoon between Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie of Luxembourg. The meeting took place after the Crown Prince paid his last respects to H.E. Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh Hun San, the late eldest brother of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who passed away on Mar. 28 at the age of 78.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the positive outcomes of the Crown Prince’s meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn. He particularly highlighted Luxembourg’s support for Cambodia’s demining efforts. Reflecting on past meetings with Luxembourg’s senior leaders, the Acting Head of State recalled the fruitful collaboration between the two nations across bilateral and multilateral platforms, especially within ASEAN and Francophonie frameworks.
He also expressed gratitude to the Crown Prince for taking the time to honour his late brother, viewing it as a testament to the strong friendship between Cambodia and Luxembourg. The Luxembourg side affirmed that they will send a high-level delegation to join the Twentieth Francophonie Summit to be hosted by Cambodia in 2026. Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, who was also present at the meeting, reaffirmed his commitment to further deepening cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.
