Cambodia, Japan to Foster Education Cooperation


Cambodia and Japan are committed to fostering their bilateral cooperation in education.

The commitment was made in a meeting between H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, Mr. Endo Toshiaki, Member of the House of Representatives, and two Members of the House of Representatives and former State Minister for International Affairs and Communication, Mr. Okuno Shinsuke and Mr. Matsushita Shimpei, here in Phnom Penh on Jan. 9.

H.E. Hang Chuon Naron profoundly thanked the Government of Japan, particularly for its support for Cambodia’s national strategic development plan, including the education reform programmes.

The two sides discussed the expansion of scholarship and training programmes for teachers and technical assistance to further build Cambodia’s human resource development.

They also discussed the implementation of the five-year physical education and sports project 2021-2025 (from primary to high school) in Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Battambang and Svay Rieng, a
s well as the construction of schools and other education facilities.
