Phnom Penh: Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak received H.E. Ali Akbar Nazari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cambodia, on Jan. 15 for a courtesy call and work discussion. The meeting aimed to enhance tourism cooperation between the two nations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussions primarily focused on promoting the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation between Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism and Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts. This move is expected to formalize and strengthen the tourism ties between the two countries.
Additionally, the meeting explored the potential for organizing Familiarisation Trips (FAM Trips) and encouraging business exchanges between private sectors in the tourism industry, as well as tourism associations from both Cambodia and Iran. These initiatives are seen as vital steps to boost mutual understanding and collaboration in tourism.
The importance of establishing a direct flight connection between Cambodia and Iran was also emphasized, as it would significantly ease travel for people and tourists between the two countries, fostering greater tourism and cultural exchange.
