Cambodia, Indonesia to Expand Cooperation in Mutually Beneficial Areas


Cambodia and Indonesia have underlined the importance of expanded cooperation in mutually beneficial areas including politics, security and defence, trade and investment, education, sport, culture, tourism, and people-to-people ties, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

In their productive talks here on Jan. 3, H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and H.E. Santo Darmosumarto, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia noted with satisfaction the continued growth of the long-standing ties between Cambodia and Indonesia, notably the fruitful results of the meeting between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and H.E. Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia, on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN and Related Summits in Jakarta in September last year.

H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the Ambassador for Indonesia’s successful chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023.

h sides exchanged views on preparations for the Fifth Meeting of the Cambodia-Indonesia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation to be hosted by Cambodia at a mutually convenient time and joint activities to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries this year.

H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister urged Indonesian business people to explore potential investment opportunities in Cambodia, especially in agro-industry, rice processing, warehousing, and rice milling to export rice to Indonesia.
