Cambodia, Ghana Explore Agricultural Cooperation

Cambodia and Ghana have been exploring their cooperation mainly in the field of agriculture to ensure food security.

The cooperation exploration was highlighted during a meeting here late last week between Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Dith Tina and Kuala Lumpur-based Ambassador of Ghana to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Florence Buerki Akonor.

The Cambodian agriculture minister suggested both sides to consider having a memorandum of understanding and conduct thorough study on legal and technical aspects as well as pay attention to relevant infrastructure, agricultural inputs and production costs. Besides, he shared Cambodia’s experience in turning from a country of food insecurity into one of the 10 largest rice exporting nations in the world.

H.E. Dith Tina also laid stress on Cambodian agricultural policy on foreign investment cooperation based on the principle of equality in both investment capital and benefits such as with Cuba and the Ivory Coast, through which Cambodia injects direct investment in the two countries’ rice sector for local supply and export by providing them with seeds and techniques.
