Cambodia Focuses on Modernising Public Sector at Civil Service Ministry Annual Meeting


Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hun Many, Minister of Civil Service, this morning opened the ministry’s annual meeting, emphasising the need for a highly capable, efficient, and transparent public administration to drive Cambodia’s socio-economic development.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the two-day event, held at The Premier Centre Sen Sok in Phnom Penh, aimed to review the ministry’s 2024 achievements and set forth new strategic goals for 2025. Approximately 700 attendees, including senior government officials, provincial representatives, development partners, and members of the media participated in the meeting.



In his opening address, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hun Many credited the ministry’s successes to three key factors. He highlighted the government’s Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I, which focuses on growth, employment, equity, efficiency, and sustainability, as a crucial foundation for achieving Cambodia’s 2050 vision. Furthermore, he emphasised the ministry’s clear vision, strategic planning, robust organisational structure, and the dedication of its officials. Moreover, he acknowledged the vital role of cooperation and support from other ministries, sub-national administrations, and stakeholders.



“I am truly proud of the progress made in the public service sector and public administration reform, which contributes significantly to enhancing governance and driving Cambodia’s socio-economic development,” stated H.E. Hun Many. He stressed the importance of building on past successes by addressing current challenges and adapting to future trends, advocating for strategic planning and innovative approaches to further enhance governance and modernise the public sector.



The meeting, running from Mar. 19 to 20, 2025, will feature presentations by senior ministry officials and interactive Q and A sessions, focusing on key topics related to public administration reform.
