Johor: In separate meetings on Jan. 19-20, 2025 in Johor, Malaysia, Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak discussed tourism cooperation with his counterparts from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, India, and Japan.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meetings with Indonesian Minister of Tourism H.E. Ms. Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and H.E. Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Malaysia, focused on the establishment of a joint tourism working group. This group aims to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding, organize the first tourism working group meeting, promote direct flights to major tourist destinations, and expand the promotion of Muslim tourism between Cambodia-Indonesia and Cambodia-Malaysia.
With Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea H.E. Yu Inchon, H.E. Huot Hak discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding for bilateral cooperation in tourism. They also talked about capacity building of Cambodian tour guides for Korean tourists, attracting more Korean tourism investors to Cambodia, and enhancing the Cambodia-South Korea direct flight connection.
In meetings with H.E. Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Honorable Union Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Republic of India; H.E. Katsunori Takahashi, Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism of Japan, and H.E. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), discussions centered around strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector between their respective countries.
