Cambodia, China Agree to Foster Cooperation in Clean Energy and Connectivity


Cambodia and China have agreed to continue to promote their cooperation in a number of key areas, including clean energy, infrastructure connectivity, and people-to-people connectivity.

The agreement was reached between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, during their bilateral talks in Vientiane, Lao PDR on the evening of Oct. 10, on the sidelines of 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.

Both leaders also expressed their satisfaction with the good relations and cooperation between the two countries, which have reached the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

H.E. Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s continued support to the development path in line with the real situation of Cambodia, and pledged to encourage more Chinese investors to Cambodia. In terms of infrastructure construction, the Chinese side continues to support Cambodia in developing her infrastructure by
providing an additional grant of 300 million yuan so that the Kingdom can achieve her plan.

In addition, the Chinese side vowed to work more closely with Cambodia to develop a master plan for the Fish and Rice Corridor and Industrial and Technological Corridor with a commitment to boost the import of more Cambodian agricultural products to the Chinese market.

In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their continued support for Cambodia’s socio-economic development, and thanked them for providing grants for infrastructure construction in Cambodia.
