Cambodia Attends 3rd LDC Future Forum in Zambia

Lusaka: A delegation of Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment, led by H.E. Ms. Meas Chanthyda, Under Secretary of State, participated in the third LDC Future Forum under the theme ‘Enhancing Resilience: Innovative Solutions for Strengthening LDCs Against Systemic Shocks.’

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forum was held from April 1-3, 2025, in Lusaka, the Republic of Zambia. It gathered representatives from 54 countries, including approximately 250 participants from least developed countries (LDCs). The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.

Cambodia, a member of the LDCs group, is particularly vulnerable to climate change, which significantly impacts its economic sector. A joint study conducted by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy and Finance estimates that climate change could reduce Cambodia’s GDP by 2.5 percent by 2030 and by 9.8 percent by 2050.

Despite these challenges, Cambodia has made progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The country remains committed to collaborating with fellow LDCs to promote sustainable development and economic resilience.
