Cambodia and the Philippines Reach Eight Key Documents to Boost Bilateral Ties


Phnom Penh: Cambodia and the Philippines have signed eight significant documents aimed at enhancing economic and development cooperation during Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet’s two-day (Feb. 10-11) official visit to the Philippines.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the signed documents were exchanged following the bilateral talks between Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Philippine President H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Manila on Feb. 11. The documents cover a wide range of sectors, including trade, agriculture, labour, and digital transformation.



The signed documents include an Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion, which aims to eliminate double taxation and prevent tax evasion on income. Additionally, a Memorandum of Intent for Investment Cooperation was established, promoting collaboration between the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the Philippine Board of Investments to enhance investment opportunities.



A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Prevention of Theft and Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property was also signed, aimed at safeguarding and recovering stolen cultural heritage. Furthermore, the MoU on Cooperation in Agriculture and Agribusiness seeks to enhance agricultural collaboration and trade between the two nations.



The MoU on Competition Law Enforcement strengthens cooperation between Cambodia’s Competition Commission and the Philippine Competition Commission to ensure fair competition. Other agreements include the MoU on Tourism Cooperation Programme, the MoU on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and the MoU on Digital Government Transformation, which promotes cooperation in information technology and digital governance between relevant ministries of both countries.



These agreements reflect the growing partnership between Cambodia and the Philippines, reinforcing their commitment to mutual economic growth and cooperation.
