Cambodia and Poland Look Forward to Deepening Bilateral Cooperation

Cambodia and Poland yesterday held the 2nd Session of their Political Consultations to deepen their bilateral cooperation, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation AKP received this afternoon.

The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Chem Widhya, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom and Poland counterpart H.E. Wojciech Gerwel, and both sides noted with pleasure the traditional excellent bonds of friendship and close cooperation, which happily exist between the two countries.

With a strong commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, both sides shared common views on various bilateral areas of cooperation, including between the two Foreign Ministries, the two Parliaments and between the two regional organisations, ASEAN and the European Union, as well as in trade and investment, agriculture, education and culture among others.

They will encourage relevant authorities to work together, establishing conducive legal instruments and holding investment and business forums in either countries to encourage the active participation by the private sector. Both sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and global issues of common interest and concern.

At the end of the consultations, the two heads of Delegations signed an agreement between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Poland on Visa Exemption for the Holders of Diplomatic Passports.

During the discussions, H.E. Chem Widhya expressed the deep gratitude of the Royal Government and the People of Cambodia to the Polish Government and People for the generous development assistance extended to Cambodia over the years since the liberation of the country from the genocide regime in 1979, and briefed his counterpart about the political situation in Cambodia, especially the upcoming general elections, the economic development, the friendly and attractive investment climate in Cambodia and the success of Cambodia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022.

For his part, H.E. Wojciech Gerwel was deeply impressed by the rapid economic progress made by Cambodia and commended the very successful efforts of Cambodia in curbing COVID-19 pandemic. He also congratulated Cambodia for the great achievements of the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022, as well as for successfully hosting the 32nd SEA Games, which has noticeably enhanced Cambodia’s image on the international arena.
