Phnom Penh: Cambodia and Nepal have agreed to promote the religious tourism potential between the two countries. The agreement was made during a meeting on March 18 between Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak and H.E. Badri Pandey, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation of Nepal.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussion focused on strengthening cooperation in tourism, particularly in promoting religious tourism destinations related to Buddhism and cultural heritage sites of Cambodia to Buddhist pilgrims and the people of Nepal. Additionally, both sides explored the possibility of establishing direct flights between Phnom Penh and Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha.
The meeting also emphasized experience-sharing in tourism product development, human resource development in the tourism sector, and enhancing business exchanges in tourism between the two countries. Furthermore, they considered the feasibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize tourism cooperation between Cambodia and Nepal.
