Cambodia and Kazakhstan Commit to Strengthen Tourism Ties

Almaty: Cambodia and Kazakhstan have pledged to enhance their collaboration in the tourism sector through 2025. This commitment was underscored during discussions between H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Mr. Yerkinbayev Yerzhan, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports, held at Shymbulak Resort, Almaty, Kazakhstan, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the two nations plan to formalize their cooperation through a memorandum of understanding on tourism. Cambodia’s peaceful and stable environment has increasingly attracted Kazakh tourists. The meeting also celebrated the successful filming of a Kazakh tourism film in Cambodia by DAUBAY Productions. Both countries share common values, including hospitality, culinary richness, and a deep cultural heritage. They have maintained diplomatic relations for over three decades, with Kazakhstan remembering the 1982 visit of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Kazakhstan showcased traditional hospitality by personally traveling from Astana to Almaty and preparing local dishes for the Cambodian delegation. The Cambodian delegation, led by Minister Huot Hak, arrived in Almaty on April 19 to attend the premiere of the tourism film shot in Cambodia.
