Cambodia and Indonesia Sign MoU for Sustainable Tourism Management at World Heritage Sites


Siem Reap: The APSARA National Authority (ANA) and PT TAMAN WISATA CANDI BOROBUDUR, PRAMBANAN, DAN RATU BOKO have reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in sustainable and environmental tourism management at two World Heritage Sites. The signing ceremony took place at the ANA headquarters in Siem Reap province, with ANA Director General H.E. Hang Peou and his counterpart from PT TAMAN WISATA CANDI BOROBUDUR, PRAMBANAN, DAN RATU BOKO signing the MoU.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the agreement outlines several key purposes and objectives:



1. Framework for Cooperation: The MoU provides a foundational principle and framework for effective collaboration between the involved parties.



2. Promotion of Sustainable Tourism: A primary objective is to enhance smart and sustainable tourism environmental management practices at both World Heritage Sites. This initiative is grounded in the principles of equitable and mutual benefits, aligning with the duties, functions, and authorities of both parties. The aim is to ensure the seamless execution of responsibilities under the World Heritage Programme, committed to be carried out in good faith.



The MoU is aimed at fostering cooperation in sustainable and environmental tourism management at two renowned World Heritage Sites: the Angkor Complex and Borobudur Temple. It was established to facilitate collaboration between the two institutions, ensuring that both sites benefit from shared knowledge and practices in sustainable tourism management.
