British Naval Vessel Pays a Five-day Visit to Cambodia

HMS Spey (P234), a Batch II River-class offshore patrol vessel of the UK’s Royal Navy, docked at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS) in Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province this morning, for a five-day visit until Sept. 27.

Commanded by Commander Paul Caddy, HMS Spey (P234) was welcomed upon arrival at PAS by Admiral Mean Savoeun, Deputy Chief of Staff of Ream Naval Base, accompanied by many other senior Cambodian Royal Navy officers.

The visit aims to further strengthen the good cooperation, increase relations and tighten the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two countries – Cambodia and UK.

During their stay in Cambodia, the British Navy delegation will conduct joint training exercises such as coastal navigation training and Man Overboard Exercise Utilising RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat) with their Cambodian counterparts, and joint sport activities to increase their friendship.

Besides, they are scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the Preah Sihanouk provincial governor, the commander o
f Ream Naval Base and some leaders of the Ministry of National Defence.

HMS Spey (P234) is 90.4 metres long, 13 metres wide, 34.01 metres high, and 3.8 metres deep. It weighs 2,000 metric tonnes and can run at 25 knots of speed (one knot equals to 1.852 kilometre per hour).
