Phnom Penh: The International Boxing Federation of Cambodia (IBFC) is rolling out a strategic approach to get Cambodian athletes well prepared for the SEA Games 2025 in Thailand and the Asian Youth Games 2029 in Cambodia. The move was highlighted by H.E. Buy Sophoan, newly appointed IBFC President, adding that as part of the plan, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is strongly supporting the training for both the senior and junior national teams.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian senior national team will be trained for the forthcoming 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December 2025 and the 4th Asian Youth Games to be hosted by Cambodia in 2029, said H.E. Buy Sophoan. Through the training, the IBFC can identify the best athletes from both the senior and junior teams to join advanced capacity building planned for the next steps.
He added that his federation also plans to partner with international boxing clubs in Phnom Penh to organise a training camp every two weeks to be commenced in
late March.
