Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Japan was accounted for US$1,948 million in 2022.
The figure was revealed by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia while presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of container terminal of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), and the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of Cambodia-Japan Diplomatic Relations (1953-2023), and the 137th anniversary of International Labour Day (May 1) in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province this morning.
According to the Premier, of the figure, Cambodia exported US$1,173 million worth of products to Japan whereas Japan’s exports to Cambodia was amounted to US$774 million.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his hope that the exports from Cambodia to Japan will be further boosted during the mandate of H.E. UENO Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, as both countries are also members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement.
The Prime Minister said that he was very proud of the Cambodia-Japan relations for the past 70 years and so far he can say that Cambodia and Japan have reached a new stage of comprehensive strategic partnership.
