Battambang: A new species of gecko called ‘Hemiphyllodactylus Khpoh’ has been found at Phnom Khpoh area in Battambang northwestern province.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Khpoh slender gecko was discovered during a joint biodiversity research project between Fauna and Flora’s Cambodia team, the Ministry of Environment’s staff, and a group of expert herpetologists led by La Sierra University.
The gecko was confirmed as a new species based on morphological and molecular data, as well as its isolation from other geckos in this genus.
